Don’t resist resistance exercises
Think about your routine at the gym for a minute. Is it mostly cardio? While cardio is great for getting the blood flowing, it’s not the end-all, be-all. Most experts agree it’s best to add strength training or resistance exercises into a regimen.
Why? Because it can help with overall muscle strength, anaerobic endurance and even the density and sturdiness of our bones. When resistance training is done regularly, it forces the body to become stronger and work more efficiently in a way that cardio simply cannot do.
There are also the perks of flexibility and balance, as well as controlling weight and body-fat ratio. Improved posture, pain management, better sleep and even mental health boosts have been reported.
So whether you prefer free weights, weight machines, resistance bands or simply your own body weight, the important thing is that you do some sort of resistance training. Here’s to a stronger you!
