When was the last time you had a good sweat?

20836489_SLike it or not, sweating is a necessary bodily function. But did you know there is more to sweat than just the body cooling itself? Yes, there are numerous benefits to breakin’ a sweat. Here are a few:

  • Got a knot in your back that won’t go away? A good workout might help, because exercise stimulates neurochemical pathways in the brain. The result is the production of endorphins. Hello, natural painkillers!
  • It’s good for your skin. When you break a sweat, your pores open up, releasing all the nasty stuff under the skin. So you’ll want to wash your face after a workout to remove all the impurities.
  • Speaking of impurities, a good workout helps the body rid itself of built-up toxins. Think alcohol, cholesterol, and salt. While a workout is no substitute for a clean diet, it can help offset a few indiscretions.
  • Feeling moody lately? There is research that indicates exercise can help balance emotions.
  • It boosts your immune system. Exercise can boost the body’s natural ability to fight infections. So ditch the hand sanitizer and get on the elliptical instead!
  • It can help you sleep better. There has been research that suggests people who exercise regularly enjoy more restful sleep.

With so many reasons to exercise, what are you doing still sitting there? Get up and exert yourself!
