18194204_SIf you tend to lead a sedentary lifestyle, you might be a coach potato. If you have trouble getting motivated to work out, we have some information that might change your mind. Research has shown that the more hours of television watched per day, the higher the risk for becoming overweight or obese. That’s right…simply lying down for hours on end can be hazardous to your health!

Why? Well, there are a few reasons to be concerned. For one, fat cell precursors change into fat cells more quickly, and can even produce more fat when you lie down or sit down.

But that’s not even the worst part. Scientists believe the impact significant time spent inactive has on your body can’t be “canceled out” by exercising, even if it’s rigorous. In other words, you cannot binge watch “House of Cards” and hit the gym for two hours and expect it to counteract the irreversible and harmful effects.

But it’s not all doom and gloom. Here’s some good news. You can take control of your health by limiting time spent in front of your TV (or mobile devices) . Yes, you can! All it takes is the decision to make it happen.
