Some of these fads eventually fade into obscurity, to be talked about only as a memory. One recent trend that’s here to stay is mighty kale. The nutrition you can get out of regularly eating kale is hard to beat. Here’s what makes this leafy green so special.

Kale is packed with loads of vitamins. It’s high in iron, actually higher than beef and it helps your liver function. It is also high in calcium, more in fact than a glass of milk. Kale is a heavy hitting vitamin K veggie, which can help prevent many types of cancer. Vitamin K can also be helpful in preventing memory loss. Other wonderful vitamins presented in kale include vitamin A for skin and vitamin C for the immune system.

Still not convinced that you should run out and snag a big bunch of kale? Well, its also got tons of antioxidants in it, which are awesome for helping the protection against a number of diseases. They can arm your immune system for battle against common ailments, such as colds. Additionally, antioxidants can help to reverse the effects of aging.

Now here’s the home run pitch for kale. It’s low in calories, fat free and high in fiber. What more could you ask for in a veggie? Many of us want to reduce the number of calories we consume. But a diet high in fiber also reduces the risk of heart disease and obesity.

It seems that kale has earned its spot in the pantheon of super foods.  There are tons of ways to incorporate it into delicious meals, such as smoothies, salads and kale chips, just to name a few. Make a smart choice for health and wellness by incorporating kale into your daily diet.
